After Muybridge















I am interested in the moving figure and this. Pencil image above is from Muybridge's The Human Figure in Motion, plate 103, top, Woman Running. I sketched every other plate out of 8.
This sketch took several days.

  1. I can see there is a lot of work!!
    I like best the last one, both the drawing and also the way that the head disappears in the background!
    It gives more the sense of movement!

  2. Thanks, Mariela...i think by the time i got to the last frame, the familiarity of the figure made it flow out of my pencil more smoothly.

  4. Hi Maggie, yes, very hard. Kind of have to blur your figure like Balla's Dynamism of a Dog on a Leash, 1912.
