I think done. Definitely like seeing the painted acrylic coming through. 

This was a little "knitpicky" because of the subject, but no cramps in the hand or anything.

I took the man out...and please notice the huge counterbalance on the right side so when the machine is lowering the pipe, they won't tip over.

I like this of the side-booms lowering the pipe into the ditch. 

Am almost finished preparing my supports.

Trying out color and composition. 

I think my square format will work. Am gessoing the supports Matt is making for me. 

He is using birch plywood with fir cradles.

Pipeline Project

Another thumbnail sketch. These are about 2.5" x 3" or smaller.

To explain my project: Matt, my husband, worked in southern Oregon last year as 

an Environmental Inspector for a 42" diameter natural gas pipeline going through the area. 

He took lots of pictures for compliance evidence and we thought it may be fun to do a series of paintings based on pipeline construction. 

 This will be my body of work.

I have been sketching some thumbnails, getting geared up for my project.

I've decided to use 8 x 8" cradled birch panels.

Open Sesame

As I was toasting sesame seeds for tahini today in my cast iron pan, a face appeared!

Silly, right? ... oh well, you can sketch many different ways.

I didn't get too much done today.

So, I painted a little flower painting yesterday and began work on this painting of the view from our house on Douglas Island toward Juneau on the mainland.

The Laundrymat

I like how this turned out, a little petit genre. A theme I am exploring.

I am intrigued with the slight curve of the middle washer. 

Would like to get a frame on it, even though it seems ok without.

The reason I like this is that I used acrylic gesso, sand, oil and pastel in it.

This is 2/5 of my top choices of my own 2011 works.
I enjoyed drawing this from a real human skeleton.
